How to contact a parked car's driver in Indonesia
· Updated · Checked
If a parked car blocks your exit in Indonesia, start with the people responsible for the parking area. Ask the parking attendant (juru parkir), security guard or reception staff to help find the driver. Give them the plate, vehicle colour and exact location. They may be able to make an announcement or contact a guest without sharing anyone’s phone number.
A displayed contact number, QR sticker or driver-message app offers another route. Use it alongside help at the location when you need the car moved now. An unanswered app message does not mean the driver has seen it.
Find the driver without escalating the situation
- Check the windscreen for a contact number or QR sticker.
- Ask the parking attendant or building staff for help.
- Say what needs to happen: “Your car is blocking the exit beside reception. Could you move it, please?”
- Include a nearby landmark or parking-space number in a private message.
- If the driver does not respond, return to the staff managing the location.
You can show staff this Indonesian request: “Permisi, mobil ini menghalangi jalan keluar. Bisa bantu panggil pemiliknya?” It means: “Excuse me, this car is blocking the exit. Could you help call the owner?”
Avoid posting accusations or the driver’s personal details in a public group. A close photo of the obstruction can explain the problem privately; it does not need to include bystanders.
Choose a contact method
| Option | How contact starts | When it helps | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parking staff or reception | Give staff the plate and location | Finding someone who may still be inside the premises | Staff may not know the driver |
| Displayed phone number | Call or message the number on the car | The driver has left a direct contact route | The number is visible to everyone passing the car |
| PelatChat | Indonesian plate profiles, posts, comments and an owner’s QR sticker | Using the local vehicle network or a sticker already on the car | A public comment does not establish that the owner received it |
| Replyte | Select issuing country, enter the plate and choose a reason | Private contact without displaying a phone number or requiring a sticker on the other car | The sender needs the app; an unclaimed plate may have no current recipient |
PelatChat centres on Indonesian plates and offers public posts, comments and an owner-installed contact sticker. Keep public discussion separate from a private request to move a car.
For a detailed comparison of local contact routes, see the Indonesian guide to driver-contact options. If the car displays a service sticker, use that contact route rather than guessing which app its owner uses.
Send a private message with Replyte
Replyte is a good fit when you want to address a car by its issuing country and plate while keeping phone numbers out of the conversation. You do not need the other car to display a Replyte sticker.
Open the app, select the issuing country, enter the plate and choose the reason for contact. Add the location and one clear request. You can include text, a photo, a voice note or location details. Replyte does not look up or reveal the owner’s phone number.
Owners can choose accepted contact reasons and quiet hours for notifications. Those controls do not promise that someone will read or answer a message immediately. An eligible message to an unclaimed plate waits for up to 30 days. The owner must claim that plate during the period to receive it; otherwise it expires.

In Jakarta: report illegal parking through the city
For suspected illegal parking in Jakarta, use the city’s reporting route as well as trying to reach the driver. Jakarta Smart City’s parking guidance describes reporting through JAKI. The city’s CRM information explains how non-emergency reports go to the responsible local office or agency.
In JAKI, use the reporting feature, include a photo showing the problem, select the relevant category and give the exact location. Explain whether the car blocks an exit, a pavement or traffic. Keep the report reference so you can follow its progress through the Jakarta CRM site. If you cannot use the app, ask staff at the location to help you find the appropriate city channel.
This is a Jakarta reporting route, not a nationwide driver-contact directory. A city report does not guarantee an immediate response or authorise you to move or tow the vehicle. For a routine problem inside a managed car park, continue working with its operator.
When to ask the police for help
For an accident, threat or other situation requiring police assistance, use an official channel instead of waiting for an app reply. Indonesia’s Polri contact centre on 110 is free and accepts accident reports and security complaints. Give the operator the location and explain what is happening.
For a routine obstruction inside a hotel, shop or managed car park, ask its staff for help first. Do not try to move somebody else’s vehicle yourself.
To set up private plate contact for your own car or send a message, get Replyte from Google Play. The iOS app is not available yet.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do if a parked car blocks me in Indonesia?
Ask the parking attendant, security guard or reception staff to help find the driver. Give them the plate and exact parking location. You can also use a displayed contact code or send a plate message, but do not depend on an immediate reply.
Can Replyte find an Indonesian car owner's phone number?
No. Replyte sends private messages by issuing country and plate; it does not look up or reveal the owner's phone number. You need the app to send a message.
What if the owner has not joined Replyte?
An eligible message waits for up to 30 days. The owner must claim the plate within that period to receive it; otherwise the message expires.
