Phone card or private car message in the US?

A phone number on the dashboard makes a call easy. It also makes the number easy to copy. Choose it when direct contact matters more to you than keeping that number out of public view.

Private messaging makes a different trade: you can discuss the car without exchanging numbers, but the other person needs a working way into the service. Neither option guarantees an answer.

Choose the kind of contact you want

The current Google Play app does not support plate contact for US, Canadian or Australian plates.

Option What the person beside the car needs What to consider
Visible phone card A phone and service to call Anyone who reads it can keep the number.
Covered phone card The number must be visible when needed A cover cannot take back a number already copied.
Contact QR code A working code and compatible phone Check whether it opens chat, a call or another service.
Replyte Private app messaging for supported plates Google Play plate contact is unavailable for US, Canadian or Australian plates.

If you use a phone card, print only what is needed to reach you. A home address, daily schedule or explanation of how long the car will be unattended adds little to a move request.

Set up private contact before you park

A US plate address needs the United States, the issuing state or territory and the complete plate.

The current Google Play app does not support plate contact for US, Canadian or Australian plates.

For supported plates, Replyte keeps phone numbers out of the conversation and requires the sender to use the app.

A supported, claimed car can have its own QR and printable PDF. The scan leads to opening or installing Replyte, then continuing in the app. If browser contact is your priority, compare the options in the US driver-contact service guide.

For supported plates, an unclaimed-plate message waits for a claim for up to 30 days, then expires. Preparing your own car in advance gives a sender a recipient who can receive the request; it does not guarantee that you will answer immediately.

Do not use a contact card as a reporting plan

If you damage another vehicle, follow the state and local requirements for exchanging details and reporting. An optional card or unanswered message does not decide whether those duties are met.

Use 911 for a true emergency. For parking enforcement, use the service for the address. The best contact choice is one you understand before leaving the car.

Replyte is available on Google Play. The iOS app is not available yet.
