A car is blocking your driveway in Canada
Start with a safe attempt to reach the driver. Look for a displayed number or contact code, or ask the property manager to pass on a request. If the driveway remains blocked, report it through the local parking service.
Do not try to force your car through a space you cannot judge safely. Keep children and other people away from any manoeuvring vehicles.
Show exactly what is blocked
Take one photograph with the driveway and parked vehicle in the same frame. Add the address, time, vehicle description, full plate and issuing province or territory. Those details help distinguish an obstruction from a disagreement about a parking space.
A message can be simple: “Your car is blocking the driveway at 28 Cedar Avenue. I need to leave. Please move it when safe.” Give the driver a location they can recognise.
If you speak in person, keep some space and avoid an argument. Do not touch the vehicle or post the driver’s details online.
Find the service for your address
For Toronto, the Toronto Police parking-complaint page provides the local reporting route and a non-emergency telephone alternative at 416-808-2222. That is a Toronto service, not a number for the whole country.
In another municipality, use its official parking or police contact. If the car is inside a managed private lot, tell the operator where it is and ask what procedure applies. A private tow is not something to arrange by borrowing another city’s rules.
Call 911 if there is immediate danger. A routine blocked driveway needs the appropriate local service rather than an emergency response.
Contact and enforcement do different jobs
A Canadian plate address needs Canada, the issuing province or territory and the complete plate.
The current Google Play app does not support plate contact for US, Canadian or Australian plates.
For supported plates, Replyte keeps phone numbers out of the conversation and requires the sender to use the app.
For supported plates, an eligible message to an unclaimed plate waits for up to 30 days and expires unless the plate is claimed. You may need help long before then. Continue with the parking or property service when an unanswered request leaves you stuck.
Once the access is clear, keep any report reference until the matter is settled. You do not need to turn a resolved parking problem into an online dispute.
For a private request, see how to contact a driver in Canada.
Download Replyte from Google Play. The iOS app is not available yet.
