# UK driver-contact apps and phone cards compared

24 October 2026 · Checked 24 October 2026

For a UK car, choose a visible phone card if an app-free call matters most. Choose Replyte if you want private contact addressed by issuing country and plate, including a limited later-claim window. Other plate apps are worth considering when the people you need already use them.

Replyte publishes this guide. The other apps’ features below come from their developers’ descriptions, rather than a hands-on delivery test.

## Compare the contact methods

| Option | How contact starts | Phone-number exposure | Setup and cost |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Phone card | Read the number and call | Anyone who sees it can copy it | Write a note or buy a card; caller needs no contact app |
| Replyte | Enter issuing country and plate; choose a reason | No phone exchange in the normal thread | Sender installs the app; Free access and optional store-bought Premium |
| ReachTag | Scan an installed vehicle QR | Vendor describes masked calls or preset SMS | Vehicle tag and operator setup; request a demo for terms |
| Chatplate | Plate-based vehicle notification | Developer says personal contact details are not shared | Free download; listed Premium options below |
| Parker | Enter or scan a plate; optional QR | Uses messages instead of calls | Free download; Plus £1.99/month or £14.99/year |
| Platoscan | Search or scan a registered plate | Developer describes private in-app contact | Registered users on both sides; free download |
| iCAR3 | Find a registered vehicle by plate or QR | Developer says phone numbers are not displayed | Free download; recipient vehicle must be registered |

The UK [Chatplate listing](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/chatplate/id6753769071) shows Premium at £2.99/week, monthly options of £5.99 and £8.99, and yearly options of £34.99 and £89.99. Its description puts images, read confirmation and multiple vehicles in Premium. Choose the offer presented to your account before paying. [Parker Plus](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/parker-contact-drivers/id6475679511) lists £1.99/month or £14.99/year. Replyte starts with one car on Free; available Premium prices appear in your platform store.

## When a phone card is the better choice

A visible number is simple: a passer-by can try calling it without joining your chosen app. You may prefer that for a temporary parking arrangement where exposing the number is acceptable. A cover hides the number only while closed; it cannot withdraw a number already copied. A call can still go unanswered.

## ReachTag for an app-free scan on a prepared vehicle

[ReachTag](https://www.reachtag.co.uk/) is a UK option aimed at fleets, facilities and property operators. Its vendor describes a QR sticker that lets a passer-by start a masked call or send a preset SMS alert without an app or scanner account. The vehicle must have the installed tag; entering an untagged car’s number plate is not the described route.

That can suit a managed car park whose operator wants a prepared contact point on its vehicles. Replyte instead uses app messaging addressed by country and plate, and does not provide masked telephone calls. ReachTag offers a demo request rather than a public price table, so ask for setup and ongoing terms before choosing it.

## What the other plate apps offer

[Chatplate](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/chatplate/id6753769071): Chatplate describes situation-based notifications, with images, read confirmation and multiple vehicles among its Premium features.

[Parker](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/parker-contact-drivers/id6475679511): Parker describes plate entry or scanning and an optional QR contact route. Treat its instant-contact marketing as a description of its intended use, not a promise that an arbitrary driver will receive your message.

[Platoscan](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/platoscan/id6760764195): Platoscan explicitly limits conversations to registered users and registered vehicles. It is a sensible option when both people already use that network.

[iCAR3](https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/icar3/id6792393381): iCAR3 describes private messages to registered vehicles, photo attachments and QR stickers. Its developer says it is independent of government vehicle departments.

## Where Replyte fits

Replyte is a good fit when you want a reason-first thread, photos, voice or location without publishing a phone number. The sender needs the app. Enter the issuing country and complete plate, rather than assuming every vehicle at your location was registered there.

An eligible message to an unclaimed plate waits for up to 30 days and expires unless it is claimed in that window. This later-claim option is useful for follow-up, but it cannot solve every urgent parking problem. A claimed car can also have an owner-installed QR sticker and printable PDF. Quiet hours pause ordinary notifications; messages remain in the conversation.

## A UK plate is a contact address, not a DVLA lookup

A registered keeper may not be the driver or legal owner. [DVLA disclosure](https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla/request-information-about-another-vehicle-registered-keeper) requires reasonable cause and a separate application. No comparison here should be read as access to that register.

Keep the complete mark for older, personalised and Northern Ireland vehicles. For an obstruction, use the appropriate council, DfI, police or site operator. For a collision, follow the guidance for the nation concerned rather than relying on a contact card or unread message.

## Choose for the situation you expect

Use a phone card when app-free calling matters more than number privacy. Use Replyte when private plate contact and its later-claim window match the job. If your neighbours or organisation already use another service, that shared participation may matter more than extra features. In every case, keep an official reporting route for incidents that need action now.
